When I met Mr. David Parkinson, I didn’t expect our conversation to linger in my mind the way it did. As he gave me the tour, he walked through the building oozing with kindness. The tour was more than just pointing out rooms or routines. He shared stories, introduced me to staff, and showed me what genuine care looks like in action.
Donating the kits felt like a natural next step: something small I could do to support the incredible work already happening. With another 250+ kits donated, I felt a sense of accomplishment. But beyond that, I still wanted to stay involved. Thus, I’ve started volunteering at The Lorelton too. Whether I’m helping with activities, talking with residents, or just lending a hand where it’s needed, every visit reminds me that connection matters.
Now, I volunteer regularly at The Lorelton, and it’s one of the most grounding things I do. Whether it’s chatting with residents, helping out during activities, or just being another set of hands and ears, I’ve learned that time is one of the most valuable things you can give — even more than supplies. I’m grateful to Mr. Parkinson and the team for letting me join their mission of care and community.
